Seattle’s Urban Wineries

Posted July 24th 2018 in Latest News, News and Updates,

Wine country just went urban and this is no ordinary wine at that! The 20 wineries with tasting rooms and cellars in Seattle are artisan-handcrafted wines from specialist Washington State producers.

The majority of wines from Washington State are produced by small family businesses run by passionate wine connoisseurs to the highest standards.

The wineries representing their produce in Seattle are perfect examples of this and include Aluel Cellars, Animale, Browne Family Vineyards, Cloudlift Cellars, Double Canyon, Efeste, Eight Bells Winery, Elsom Cellars, and Seven Hills to name but a few.  With eleven wineries offering tasting rooms at the SODO Urbanworks, this great neighbourhood location provides a micro-taste of the 900 wineries that are located around the state.

For those that would also like to experience the wines of Washington with a more immersive experience, they can also head 25 minutes out of the city to Woodinville Here, some 100 wineries and tasting experiences are set in verdant green-forested countryside and each feature tasting rooms reflecting the character, charm and style of their vineyards, many with wine-bar type tasting rooms.

The fuller experience is of course, to head out to the master vineyards for a few days as part of a holiday in Washington State. The starting points for wine-tasting holidays include Yakima, Tri-Cities and Walla Walla. Surrounding these cities, around 900 wine producers nurture vineyards spreading wide and far across the landscape. Here the weather is drier and hotter than Seattle and many vineyards offer more than just the wine tasting. Wine blending experiences to make a bottle of wine, cork and name it are increasingly popular and Northstar is a good spot for this. Others are in unusual locations such as part of a golf course and there are also unusual ways to visit the vineyards, such as by bicycle or even on a horse.

Washington is a great state for adventure, and we believe those adventures are best laced with premium wines to enliven delicious gourmet meals.
